2004 - Death of Nikolay Stepanovich Chernykh who discovered two periodic comets 74P/Smirnova-Chernykh and 101P/Chernykh. He also discovered a very large number of asteroids, including notably 2867 Steins and the Trojan asteroid 2207 Antenor.

she.png1951 - Birthday of Sally Ride, born in Encino California. She was the first American Woman in Space on STS-7, June 18, 1983. She died of pancreatic cancer on July 23, 2012.
