1999 - Asteroid 3838 Epona Near-Earth Flyby (0.374 AU) 

1998 - Launch of Znamya 2.5 into space aboard Progress M-40. The Znamya 2.5 experiment was declared over after the mirror failed to deploy properly. What remained of the experiment was burnt up in the atmosphere on 5th February 1999 with the Progress cargo ship.

1964 - First launch of the Saturn 1 rocket, the first heavy-duty dedicated space launcher.
